    Course Description

    Preservation Techniques for Over-Mature Trees in an Urban Environment examines a tree’s candidacy for preservation and determines which techniques are best suited for the tree and its environment. The one-day course provides instruction and field demonstration around assessing risk and tree viability; exploring urban environments and trees; ensuring climber and aerial lift operator safety; and conducting structural assessments. Specific topics of instruction include:

    • Refracture Pruning
    • Retrenchment
    • Support Systems: steel cables, dynamic cables, through rods and support structures
    • Rigging Techniques: negative rigging, assessing anchors, speedline, and lift & drifting

    This course is instruction and field demonstration and does not include hands-on learning opportunities.
