High ANgle Tree Removal

High Angle Tree Removal

Course Description

Working at height and protecting workers from falls is a requirement of any fall protection program. Aerial Chainsaw use poses a significant hazard to workers both aloft and on the ground when operating a chainsaw in an elevated position. This course is designed to educate anyone who operates a chainsaw about safe chainsaw operation when working aloft. Chainsaw safety, maintenance, use and handling are core components of this course. You will learn how to gather the necessary data to develop a safe aerial cutting plan which will allow you to cut sections of tree with both accuracy and precision, by avoiding obstacles and, assessing risks and hazards. This course also covers systematic horizontal, angled and vertical limb removal as well as trunk section removal by understanding compression and tension forces. This course will educate learners about the theory and practical application of snap cuts, notches and back cuts and how the methodology affects the success of accurate cutting of tree parts. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice cuts in a “hands on” setting. Participants will gain an understanding in what contributes to accidents and how to avoid them. There is a strong focus on personal safety, risk assessment and accident prevention and fall protection when working aloft with a chainsaw. Training workers in developing skills that reduce variables and mitigate risks associated with chainsaws, limb and trunk removal, in high-risk environments is the general theme of this course.
